Victorious Legions

King Kainom Killed!

The new monarch of Teutonia, King Kainom, has been killed in Albion
leading the Teutonian legions against the invading Fey force from Erin.

During the month of August 1107, King Kainom led a small scouting party
in northern Cornwall, testing the defences of the Fey invasion force from Erin.
The king’s small force was ambushed by overwhelming numbers of Fey
invaders and the King was killed. Every member of the King’s unit fought
with skill and valor to save the King, but the number of the enemy was far
too great.

King Kainom was in Albion to aid Cardinal Martinique, Lord Protector of Albion,
in retaking the lands lost earlier in the year to the Fey invasion force from Erin. The bodies of King Kainom and his men were recovered later by the forces of Frederick von Hapsburg. Lord Hapsburg has taken the position of High Steward of Teutonia and will rule Teutonia during this time of crisis.

Teutonian Legions Victorious in Cornwall!

The combined might of the continental forces travelled to Northern Cornwall during the month of August this year, 1107. The Teutonian forces, who took the battle field with the forces of the Lions, Fir-Cruthen, and Steppe Alliance achieved a great victory killing many of the enemy and forcing them from their defensive positions in Cornwall.

High Steward of Teutonia, Frederick von Hapsburg was delighted with the victory and the performance of the Teutonian legions. This victory was dedicated to the memory of King Kainom and those lost earlier in the year at the Battle of Polgooth. “This was a great victory today, we have struck a great blow against the enemy, and we have killed many on the battle field, retaken vast tracts of Cornwall and denied the enemy this summer’s harvest of Cornwall. These Fey invaders are running scared and will be growing cold and hungry this winter!” – Frederick von Hapsburg, High Steward of Teutonia.

The following day the combined forces of the Wolves, Jhereg, Al’Gaia and a large mercenary force drove the remaining Fey invaders from the North of Cornwall.

The Liberation of Hannover

During November this year (1107) Teutonian forces, led by High Steward Frederick von Hapsburg, have liberated Hannover from the occupying forces of the Drow House Knell Sheddan. The Drow House Alu’rethi led by Matron Mother Alu’rethi (Teutonian High Ambassador) had not been heard from for over a year. It was known to be locked in a war with another subterranean Drow House called Knell Sheddan. In 1105 Knell Sheddan approached King Harriata Humaktinson to join the Empire of Teutonia; unfortunately this new addition to the peoples of Teutonia was not peaceful. The rivalry of the two Drow houses has created a state of civil war below the land of Teutonia. This civil war erupted onto the surface two years ago with the disappearance of the then Lord Protector of Teutonia, Lord Bai’rend the Ancient; it is believed Knell Sheddan where responsible for his disappearance. Earlier this year it is thought a further fatal blow was stuck by Knell Sheddan, Lord Azdal (High Priest of Kiaransalee) presented to King Kainom a token proving the defeat of the Drow House Alu’rethi. With a heavy heart King Kainom and the assembled nobles of Teutonia agreed a truce between Knell Sheddan and the Empire of Teutonia and negotiations had begun which where hoped would led to Knell Sheddan gaining a full seat in the Teutonian Reichstag.

From within the Citadel of Hannover Lord Hapsburg praised the bravery and loyalty of the Hannovian citizens, who have resisted their occupation for almost a year. The High Steward was quoted as saying that a peaceful negotiation with Knell Sheddan was never an option. Azdal and his forces where responsible for the destruction of House Alu’rethi, and the disappearance of Lord Bai’rend. King Kainom and I pledged along time ago to avenge Bai’rend and the Alu’rethi. This is great victory which we will celebrate through out the winter. The trading port of Hannover will be rebuilt and the citizens rewarded for their loyalty and bravery. But for now we will count our losses and bury the dead.

Sir Jimmy, Captain of the Kings Guard, was lost during the final stages of the battle for Hannover, fighting next to and defending the life of the High Steward.

Fey Invasion of Polgooth

During May this year 1107 the Teutonian nobility responded to a call of help from our alley Prince Godfrey Bohemond, Regent of Albion, and gathered at the village of Polgooth to celebrate the festivals of Melaphine and Sasterines. They were joined by the United Factions in preparation for the defence of Albion against an at-that-time unknown enemy that has conquered Erin.

The Teutonian forces took to the field alongside the Lions and a large mercenary force to defend the beaches against raiders from Erin, now understood to be led by Fey people. The battle lines of the Lions where overwhelmed, the Banner of Albion was lost and Duke Ammonminka and Prince Regent Godfrey Bohemond fell in the defence of Cornwall. Only a quarter of the Albion forces who went into battle left the field alive. Cardinal Martinique assumed the role of Lord Protector of Albion until Kiera Trueheart comes of age. Runners were sent to the four corners of the realm to tell of the Massacre that has occurred at Polgooth.

A combined force of the Al’Gaia, Wolves, Jhereg and the Fir Cruthen succeeded in holding the invaders from Erin and prevented them from invading and securing the whole of Cornwall.

The Return of the Knights

Before the battle of Cornwall, August 1107, the gods of Teutonia chose three members of the Legions to champion the Teutonian Empire as symbols of hope and valour.

The ceremony presided over by High Ritualist Isileth, Herzog of Bad Tolz, witnessed the three champions; Nash Landgraf of Koblenz, Lawcien of the Moredel, and Commander Horace Cope of the Teutonian Navy pledged to serve the Empire of Teutonia and swear allegiance to the flag of their new order. High Steward von Hapsburg accepted their vows to serve the Empire of Teutonia and in front of the Legions of Teutonia and with the blessing of the gods the order of the Knights of the Imperial Eagle were formed.

In a separate ceremony, in front of the approving Legions, Lord Hapsburg rewarded two of his body guards for their great valour, skill and bravery during the battlefield of Cornwall. Sir Jimmy and Sir Crows both of the Teutonian Navy were knighted and accepted into the Order of the Imperial Eagle.

The Nobility shall reign

Earlier this year Duke Kainom reinstated the nobility of Teutonia and formed them into the Teutonian Reichstag to aid him in governing the land and peoples of Teutonia. This reversed an earlier decision made during the chaotic months after the loss of the Lord Protector of Teutonia Bai’rend the Ancient, the then Duke Kainom announce the end to nobility and stated that all would serve the nation of Teutonia and would be reward based on their ability.

New Religious Council of Teutonia

Under the instructions of King Kainom, Derchas Landgraf of Vienna, formerly Bolg Olc, has been appointed head of the Teutonian Synod. Part of the Teutonian Reichstag the Synod is comprised of both laypersons and clerical dignitaries recognised by the Gods of Teutonia.
